JEDDAH, 8 June 2007 — June 15 is the moment of truth when finalists in the 1st Star Himig OFW Search will slug it out to determine the grand champion.
Leading the finalists is Randel Joseph Serrano of Mohammad Abdallah Sharbatly Company who topped the semi-final round last week at the Orient Pearl Seafoods Restaurant in Balad, Jeddah.
Serrano will be pitted against last elimination round winner Jun Ventura of Gamma Shoiba, Lunel Solito of SCECO-Shoiba, Dante Domingo of Al Rabie-Saudi Foods Co. Ltd., Emmanuel Paras of Al Faida Word Est., Norberto Intes Jr. of Icdoc Water Treatment Plant, Norberto Salac of Al Hamra Sofitel Hotel, and Romelito Camba of China Gate Restaurant.
Abdul Rahman Espinosa, chairperson of contest organizer Entertainment Production Specialists, said the June 15 event will be held at the International Philippine School Jeddah (IPSJ) starting at 2 p.m.
It will be the main feature of a cultural presentation, dubbed “Araw ng Kalayaang Pinoy 2007,” which is being held as part of Philippine Independence Day celebrations across the Kingdom.
The June 15 event is co-organized by Synthesize Level Audio and D’Jamees Group.

During last Friday’s semifinals at Orient Pearl, the audience were also serenaded by 2006 Dream Star Champion Sonny Austria, 2006 TFC PopStar Jeddah Champion and Caroline Joy Lopez, and D’Jamees Showband.
Abdul Rahman said the show was made possible with sponsorship by Etihad Airways, *U Right, Sky Freight Forwarders, Mediacom, Starbucks and TFC.
The panel of judges was chaired by theater and musical meastro Jake Domile. Its members included Danny Roble, winner of the 2nd Metro Pop Music Competition and band vocalist Epi Antido, the “Julio Iglesias of Jeddah.” TFC’s financial analyst Neil Panganiban served as the tabulator.
