SHARJAH, 8 June 2007 — Sultan Bin Ahmed Al-Qassimi, Chairman of Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, encouraged Korean investors to share in Sharjah’s attractive business environment, which attracts investors from all over the world.
In his speech before the Korean business society yesterday, he said during the past few years, the emirate has attracted many industrial and commercial companies, especially to its thriving free zone, which offers local and international businesses the perfect atmosphere for a variety of commercial activities.
He also stressed the importance of various economic sectors in Sharjah and the strategies adopted by the government to enhance local, regional and international financial partnerships, in addition to the valuable economic forums that encourage development in those sectors.
He further said that the UAE-Korea Economic Partnership Forum, which is currently under way in Seoul, aims at increasing the number of common investment channels available to the public and private sectors, as well as businessmen from both countries. He asserted that the forum is important for the continued growth of trade between the UAE and South Korea, which are both models of advanced economies in the 21st century.
At the forum, in front of the representatives of more than 300 organizations, government departments and businessmen from both countries, the Chairman of SCTDA delivered a speech, which highlighted the ways to increase investment opportunities between Sharjah and Korea and demonstrated the importance of the forum — considered the biggest Korean economic forum ever — in creating a good environment in which to activate this partnership, saying, “We are here today to establish Sharjah’s interest in enhancing its relationship with the business communities in the tourism, trade and manufacturing sectors, as it is becoming an increasingly attractive destination for global investment and tourism.
The chairman of SCTDA invitation to all the Korean companies, organizations, businessmen and investors to benefit from the numerous opportunities that make Sharjah the perfect place for investment as well as for tourism from different countries.
The emirate’s gross domestic product has surged since the early 1990s, increasing from AED 9.5 billion in 1990 to AED 42 billion in 2006, saying, “Today, we are looking forward to Korea’s participation in the economic growth that the Emirate of Sharjah is witnessing.”
