JEDDAH, 10 June 2007 — Police in Jeddah have arrested and charged a man, dubbed the Kandara Wolf, who kidnapped two seven-year-old girls on separate occasions and raping one of them in the Al-Kandara district of Jeddah.
The man, whose nationality has not been disclosed, will now be made to appear in court for sentencing.
The Kandara Wolf recently sent a wave of terror among people living in the Al-Kandara neighborhood of the city.
On one occasion, the man lured a seven-year-old girl to his apartment claiming he knew her father and that he wanted to give her something to take home.
Police said the man raped the girl after taking her there using various roads, alleyways and backstreets to disorient her.
The father of the victim, a schoolteacher of an Arab nationality, informed police about what had happened to his daughter.
The man told police that the alleged culprit lured his daughter to his apartment and raped her. The girl was able to give specific details of how she was violently raped and abandoned on the street bleeding.
Police launched an intensive campaign to arrest the man, who is in his 40s.
While police were investigating the case, they received a report from another Arab resident about how a man kidnapped his daughter saying he knew her father and that he wanted to give her something to take home.
The girl was lured to an abandoned home where Al-Kandara Wolf tried to rape her. However, the girl managed to escape.
After some time, police managed to identify and arrest the man. His victims were also able to formally identify him from photographs. The man will be sentenced in a couple of days.
