RIYADH, 11 June 2007 — The Saudi Telecom Co. (STC) is offering 50 percent discounts on all telephone calls to the Philippines to mark the Philippine Independence Day on Wednesday.
The service, which will last for 24 hours starting 12 midnight tomorrow, will include telephone calls made through the Al-Hatif landline phones, Al-Jawal postpaid mobiles, SAWA prepaid mobiles and the Al-Hatif prepaid cards.
“This is a special gesture from the STC to all Filipino expatriates living and working in the Kingdom to call home and greet their loved ones on the auspicious occasion of their National Day,” an STC spokesman told Arab News, adding that Filipinos remain the company’s valued customers.
There are more than one million Filipino overseas workers living across the Kingdom. They have their embassy in Riyadh and a consulate in Jeddah.
Members of the Filipino community welcomed the STC offer.
“It is a good incentive to call our friends and relatives,” a Filipino worker said, predicting that there will be a possible congestion in telephone lines to Manila since most of the expatriates will make the maximum use of the STC offer.
The STC seeks to offer low rates and services that satisfy customer needs and encourage personal networking.
