RIYADH, 12 June 2007 — The British Council in Saudi Arabia has launched a short-essay writing contest for Saudi youths on environmental subjects. The contest is open to young Saudi men and women aged 16 to 18 and the essay should not exceed 200 words, said Karen Daly-Gherabi, the assistant director of the British Council in Saudi Arabia. Winners will attend the Green Cities Youth Conference in London July 9-11. “Each winner will be accompanied by an adult member of his or her family,” said Daly-Gherabi. “This contest is part of the Council’s work in promoting dialogue about biodiversity and environmental sustainability and raising awareness about climate change.” Contributions should be sent to the British Council at this address: [email protected].
