ABU DHABI, 16 June 2007 — UAE Interior Minister Sheikh Saif ibn Zayed Al-Nahayan tested the ability of his security men by launching a mock burglary and kidnapping operation at the gold market in Zayed Commercial City Center on Wednesday night.
The operation was carried out in coordination with the jewelry shop owner but without informing the police or guards of the center. Sheikh Saif said it was first such operation carried out by his ministry, adding that it was conducted to know the preparedness of the security machinery in the event of a real crisis.
“The outcome of the operation was marvelous as the security officers took control of the situation while the kidnapped person was released within a short span of time,” Al-Eqtisadiah quoted the minister as saying.
