Search in New Ways

A partnership between Google, Yahoo and AT&T allows users to search both Google and Yahoo at the same time. Typing in search words at, www.SearchBoth.com will provide results from Google and Yahoo in a split screened frame, side by side. What this means is that a user can look at both search engine results at the same time to discover the best and most relevant search finds. It also allows a comparison of the different priorities of search results on Google vs. Yahoo, which are based on two different search algorithms.

Ask.com is also aiming to offer a better search through Ask3D. The new tool was designed to improve users’ search results by providing quicker and more detailed results. Ask3D includes a three-panel layout where users can refine their search results without leaving the page and preview pages while simultaneously remaining on their initial query list. The new site also features an expanded search list that includes media assets like video clips and still images as well as weblinks. Ask3D enables users to localize their results. For example, when a user searches for “Shakira,” the results displayed will include when the singer is performing locally.
