JEDDAH, 29 June 2007 — Abdul Latif Jameel (ALJ) Community Services Programs become operational with the opening of the first “Bab Rizq Jameel” Center (Gateway to Prosperity), which specializes in creating employment opportunities for females, on Sari Street in Jeddah.
The center is tasked either to offer job vacancies in both the public and private sectors, or offer existing “start-up” opportunities for small or micro projects for females.
In addition, the center includes more than 65 commercial shops for ladies, six female restaurants and a beauty center, together with a children’s playground and a multipurpose “demonstration” hall. The center also includes meeting areas for companies to conduct interviews with potential candidates.
Twelve female coordinators are working in the center to provide the necessary assistance.
Maha Al-Harbi, manager of the center, said it has already welcomed more than 500 ladies on the first opening day. She added that all facilities in the center are designed to offer outstanding service and as many employment opportunities as possible for potential applicants.
Al-Harbi noted that the center succeeded in offering more than 300 employment opportunities upon opening. The center will open on a two-shift basis, from 10:00 a.m. to 01:00 p.m. and from 05:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Job creation specialists will work from 08:00 am to 11:00 pm.
