RIYADH, 1 July 2007 — The Saudi Telecom Company (STC) will provide a 50 percent reduction on international calls to the US on Wednesday on the occasion of its independence day. The concessional offer is to start at 12 a.m. on Wednesday for a duration of 24 hours.
“The offer is STC’s gesture toward its subscribers who will like to greet their friends and relatives on this auspicious day,” Saad bin Dhafer Al-Qahtani, vice president of marketing and sales said in a statement sent to Arab News.
He added that the reduction will include clients who use telephone, mobile phone, SAWA, LANA , Prepaid Cards (Zajoul, Allo, Marhaba, Interkey and Salam).
“These offers come from STC’s keenness on activating their pioneering role and an extension of its strategy, which seeks to satisfy all customers.” The Saudi International Telecommunications gateway is equipped with state-of-the-art technology to facilitate speedy process of all incoming and outgoing international calls from the Kingdom through STC and other telephone operators.
The US Embassy in Riyadh advanced its Independence Day celebrations to May 30 due to the summer holidays.
Riyadh Deputy Governor Prince Sattam attended the function hosted by US Ambassador Ford M. Fraker at Quincy House, ambassador’s official residence.
“The 4th of July has always been a special day in my family, because my ancestors were patriots and part of that early struggle for independence,” Ambassador Fraker said on the occasion. “In 1773, Thomas Fraker participated in the Boston Tea Party, and later Thomas and his brother Philip fought with the Colonial Army against the British,” he said.
