JEDDAH, 2 July 2007 — Mohammed ibn Ibrahim Al-Suwaiyel has been appointed president of the King Abdul Aziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) with the rank of a minister, it was announced yesterday. He replaces Saleh Al-Athel.
Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah made the appointment issuing a royal decree. The king also named Abdul Aziz ibn Mohammed Al-Hoqail as the new president of the Saudi Railway Organization, replacing Khaled Alyahya.
Abdul Rahman ibn Ahmed Al-Jaafari is the new governor of the Communication & Information Technology Commission (CITC), the Kingdom’s telecom regulator. Al-Suwaiyel was hitherto the CITC chief.
The king issued another decree extending the terms of Fahd Al-Abdul Jabbar, adviser to the king and supervisor of royal clinics, Abdul Rahman Al-Tuwaijri, secretary-general of the Supreme Economic Council (SEC) and Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, executive director general of health affairs at the National Guard, to another four years, the Saudi Press Agency said.
King Abdullah also renewed the terms of the existing members of SEC’s advisory council for economic affairs for two years. He appointed Zaid ibn Abdul Mohsen Al-Hussein vice president of the Human Rights Commission.
