MuslimHeritage.com is a nonprofit, community initiative, the aim of which is to provide an educational forum to present and discuss the contributions of Muslim Heritage to present day science, technology and civilization. The site is owned, developed and maintained by the Foundation for Science Technology and Civilization (FSTC), a UK-based educational entity which was formed to popularize, disseminate and promote an accurate account of Muslim Heritage and its contributions to modern life. As well as its work in regards to MuslimHeritage.com, FSTC has produced publications, conferences and teacher training seminars on the subject.
One of the goals of MuslimHeritage.com is to raise global awareness on the importance and relevance of Muslim Heritage and its mostly unaccounted contribution to current world civilization. Although a vast repository of knowledge and historical data on the critical role of the Muslim contributions to science, technology and world civilization is available in library archives throughout the world, in the past there was no project that set out to catalog and centralize all these sources of Muslim Heritage and make them available globally in a popular format.
Through advanced Internet technologies, FSTC now has the facility to allow global access to this new Muslim heritage database, including source materials, 3-D virtual models of Muslim technology and an online community of scholars and contributors. It is hoped that the information available through MuslimHeritage.com will provide stronger intellectual foundations for Muslims to begin to reassert their identity as major pioneers of human civilization.
