DAMMAM, 10 July 2007 — The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the Federation of the Gulf Cooperation Council Chambers have jointly decided to conduct an opinion survey on regional integration and cooperation.
Abdul Raheem Naqi, secretary general of the federation, told in a press meeting after he visited GCC Secretary-General Abdul Rahman Al-Attiyah at the headquarters of the GCC in Riyadh recently that the survey aims at getting a precise picture of how far the nationalization efforts in the Gulf region have been successful particularly in the private sector.
Attiyah called upon GCC member countries to cooperate with the efforts of the federation to strengthen the region’s private sector, Naqi said.
“The federation needs the cooperation of all GCC members to cope with the changing economic developments in the present world and in facing the future challenges for the business sector in the region,” he said.
Attiyah assured Naqi that the GCC would offer all possible support to the federation to serve the economic interests of the countries in the region.
