DHAKA, 15 July 2007 — At least 13 people were killed and 40 injured as a bus skidded off a bridge into a roadside ditch in a terrible accident. The accident occurred in the southeastern port city of Chittagong yesterday.
Police said the Ramgarh-bound bus from Mirersarai smashed in through the railings of Jorashetu bridge in the hilly area and tumbled 150 feet down.
Three passengers died instantly in the tragic accident, said officer-in-charge of Fatikchhari police station Mainul Afsar, giving a spot account of the crash.
Four of the injured died at Mostannagar Hospital in Mirersarai and another four in Feni Sadar Hospital. Besides, two more bodies were recovered from under the bus.
