FARAA, Asir, 21 July 2007 — Crown Prince Sultan, deputy premier and minister of defense and aviation, reiterated the unflinching adherence of the Kingdom to the principles of Islam.
Addressing the guests at the dinner party he held in honor of the notables, sheikhs, officers of the armed forces and the public security and the citizens of the Asir region at his palace in Faraa on Thursday, Prince Sultan said the Kingdom is against ignorance, terrorism and corruption.
The crown prince said the Kingdom has been doing its best to serve Islam and Muslims.
“But we are moderates, and not extremists, because our religion advocates moderation,” the crown prince said.
The prince continued, “We serve the society without discriminating between black and white nor Bedouins or city people. All are treated equally.”
The crown prince pointed out that the hearts and doors of the rulers of the Kingdom are open for Muslims.
The crown prince also highlighted the significant role being played by the armed forces in the service of the country, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
On behalf of the citizens, Abdulaziz Misheit, welcomed the crown prince and said the citizens of Asir region would remain loyal and sincere to the Kingdom’s wise leadership.
Abdulaziz said the citizens of Asir region would do their best to enable the region’s new governor, Prince Faisal ibn Khaled, to perform his mission well.
The crown prince who arrived in Abha Tuesday evening opened the seventh military exhibition at the King Khaled Airbase in the Asir region on Wednesday.
The prince watched the acrobatic shows of the air force and other military wings. He also opened the SR8 million King Abdullah Mosque at the King Faisal Military City.
The crown prince returned to Jeddah Thursday night after completing the three-day visit.
