DAMMAM, 24 July 2007 — Authorities in the Eastern Province have arrested 1,400 people of various nationalities and seized a large number of stolen goods that were being sold cheaply in a raid on a secondhand market in Dammam. A police spokesman said that the raid lasted five hours and led to the arrest of 350 labor law violators, 150 overstayers and 900 criminals. Police were also able to identify 300 traffic violations. The campaign also led to the seizure of a large number of stolen goods that included used clothes, shoes, cell phones and video cameras.
