RIYADH, 24 July 2007 — The privatization team at MoWE met on Sunday (July 22) to open the submitted offers for management, operation and maintenance contract of water networks and wastewater collection in Riyadh city. The meeting took place at the MoWE headquarters and was attended by members of the evaluation committee, which was formed by a ministerial order.
The committee includes members from the Ministry of Water and Electricity, Ministry of Finance and Public Investments Fund, as well as consultants with whom MoWE has contracts for the implementation of PPP projects.
Firms which submitted proposals for the management contract are Veolia, Suez Acwapower, Berlinwasser and Saudi Oger, and Aqualia, Emasesa and Jazel Alata.
After a total evaluation of the four companies, the selection of the successful bidder and signing of the management contract for the water network and wastewater collection in Riyadh city is expected to take place during the fourth quarter of 2007. The scope of work of the operator will include the following:
1. Supervision on improving, managing, and maintaining underground water supply stations, and water and wastewater networks in Riyadh city.
2. Managing and developing customer services, revenue collections and reducing leakages.
3. Developing and training the current employees.
4. Upgrading the performance of water and wastewater sector in Riyadh city.
