JEDDAH, 29 July 2007 — The Directorate of Health Affairs in Jeddah will honor today 80 people who have retired from working at the directorate’s research and training center. “This simple ceremony is an effort to recognize the services the former employees have offered to their country,” said Dr. Hasan Al-Shihri, deputy director for planning and development in the directorate. “Retirement is not the end of the road. It is a stage of living in peace and comfort. The country needs the expertise of retirees in times of crises,” he added.
Half-Day Off for JCCI Employees
JEDDAH, 29 July 2007 — Chairman of the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) Saleh Al-Turki has given JCCI employees half the day off today to watch the finals of the Asian Football Cup 2007 between Saudi Arabia and Iraq. The half-day off, according to Al-Turki, would allow employees to watch the match with their families and share in the national enthusiasm. He encouraged all companies to follow suit and support sports events in which Saudis are participating.
Mansour Hospital in Taif Expanded
RIYADH, 29 July 2007 — On behalf of Crown Prince Sultan, Prince Khaled ibn Sultan, assistant defense minister for military affairs, will open the newly expanded Prince Mansour Military Hospital in Taif on Tuesday, the Saudi Press Agency reported. The hospital, which started as a small medical center with 10 beds in 1947, has now become a 224-bed hospital complex after a series of expansions. A recent expansion has added 74 beds to the hospital, said Gen. Ketab Al-Otaibi, director general of the Armed Forces Medical Services. “The hospital, in its early stages, was the first project of the directorate and it has made a big leap forward under the guidance of Prince Sultan,” Gen. Al-Otaibi said.
