JEDDAH, 30 July 2007 — Amiantit Saudi Arabia and its joint venture partner SUBOR of Turkey have been awarded a contract worth SR118 million for the supply of Flowtie GRP (Glass Reinforced Polyester) pipes for the Eyn-Khosh irrigation network which is part of the Dasht-e- Abbas irrigation project, a large agricultural area in Iran.
The project is partially being funded by the Jeddah-based Islamic Development Bank (IDB) and by the government of Iran.
Expressing his opinion upon the signing of the contract, Fareed Al-Khalawi, President & CEO of the Amiantit Group said, “This is a major contract award for our company and we are very pleased that the supply of the pipes is being shared between our Saudi GRP manufacturing facility, Amiantit Fiberglass industries Ltd. (AFIL) in Dammam, and our joint venture company SUBOR in Turkey.”
Adding that similar cooperation between Amiantit Group companies is taking place throughout the world and reinforces the strength of the company’s global network of 34 facilities.
The export order, comprising of 230 kms of GMR pipes, plus fittings, with diameters ranging from 400mm to 2200mm and pressure of 6 and 10 bars is the biggest ever received by SUBOR since the Amiantit Group joint venture company began operations ten years ago.
