JEDDAH, 8 January 2008 — Al-Hilal, Al-Ittifaq and Al-Ahli, scored important wins against Wehda, Taie and Najran in the pending matches of the Saudi League yesterday.

In Makkah, Salman Al-Muasher of Hilal scored the only goal of the match and gave his team the vital three points that kept Hilal alive and within reach of league top two Al-Ittihad and Al-Shabab. Al-Muasher’s goal of the match came in the 45th minute of the first half from a nice shot inside the penalty box.

Ittifaq celebrated their return to the competition with a victory against Taie and three important points added to the tally after winning the match 2-0 in Dammam.

Tago scored for Ittifaq in the 60th minute and Saleh Basheer added another marker in the 80th minute of the match.

At Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium in Jeddah, Ahli crushed Najran 4-0 in a one-sided match.

Ahli pulled off the smashing victory on the back of a Fabiano hat trick of goals in the 23rd, 60th and 76th minutes of the match. Homoud Abbas booted in one for Ahli in the 41st minute.

Following last night’s results Hilal strengthened their grip on third place with 26 points, Ahli moved up to the sixth spot with 19 points and Ittifaq jumped to the eighth position with 18 points. Taie remained in 11th with seven points, Najran 10th with 9 points and Wehda fifth with 19 points.
