JEDDAH, 8 March 2008 — In the Jeddah Youth Baseball League, the Braves opened the scoring with a triple in the first by Amin Alireza that also brought in Ali Al-Sawaf and Ramsi Haram.

Ben Gonzales stole second and third then scored on a wild pitch and Seung Jong Park scored on an amazing headfirst dive into home plate that received a standing ovation by players and fans alike. The Angels’ Elie Nas also hit a homer.

In the second innings, Amin hit another homer that drove in him and Wataru Yamauchi. The Angel’s Zayd Alireza hit a rocket shot that brought in Amin Abdulhasan and Faisal Fitiany. At the end of the second innings, the Braves were leading with 7-3.

In the third innings, the Braves moved further ahead 12-3 beginning with Wataru Yamauchi’s home run that scored Danielle Taylor and Ihsan Abdus-Saboor.

Ben Gonzalez hit a three-run double that scored Nat Lawrence, Haya El Masiri, and Yazeed Abu-Ghazaleh.

The Braves capped off their scoring with a two-run single by Reem Kano that scored Rayan Howell and Ali Al Sawaf, as well as a bases-clearing triple by Ihsan Abdus-Saboor that scored Omar Istanbouli, Raward Ray Karam, and Rayan El Rass. The Angels had two more runs by Brett Beckly and Omar Alireza.

In the final, the Braves came out winners with 17-3 against Angels.

In the Tee Ball Division (ages 5-8), the Red Sox and Pirates played four action-packed innings. Jumanah Bilal was awesome as a pitcher tagging out four runners going to first.

Joe Westwood did great as pitcher in the fourth inning. Khalil Raychouni had two homeruns bringing home 5 other runners. Kareem Moumin hit two home runs and brought in four players, including Nejat Alireza and Roma Koval, who scored twice. The Red Sox won 9-4 against the Pirates. The Red Sox Laith Amad and Sam Westwood scored three runs apiece.

In Coach Pitch Division (ages 9-11), the Cubs and Dodgers faced off to a 10-9 thriller that wasn’t decided until the last at bat. In the first two innings, each team scored two runs. The Cubs scored on a two-run double by Ali Baig that scored Mihad Nageeb and Rayan Nowallati. Fielding errors by the Cubs allowed Marcus Lawrence and Adam Martin to score.

In the third the Dodgers took a 9-2 lead, Omar Muhammad hit a two-run triple that scored Kareem Kano and Alexis Briones.

Sara El Rass, Nathaniel Stephenson, and Alwaleed Al Shoura scored runs. In the fourth inning, the Cubs bats came alive with home runs by Idris Abdul Saboor, Mohammed Nageeb, and Younus Khan.

The Cubs were behind 9-6 with the bases loaded, Yusuf Khan hit a shot down the third base line that the umpire called fair. All the players including Yusuf came around to score.

Players, parents, and fans were cheering unbelievably. The Cubs won 10 to 9 for the Dodgers.
