JEDDAH: Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal are among the teams that have a definite edge to figure among the finalists in the English Premier League (EPL) that starts from Aug. 16, according to a panel of Showtime’s EPL analysts.
“In fact, Chelsea may pull a surprise victory in the EPL going by its winning streak in the recent past,” Abdul Rahman Mohammed, Showtime’s EPL analyst, told a press conference on the sidelines of a road show at the Jeddah Hilton last week. Chelsea have won three competitions.
Asked which team has an edge in the EPL, Abdul Rahman Mohamed said: “It was one of the most contentious topics in football last year, but last season’s Champions League finalists, Manchester United and Chelsea proved that there is nothing else like the Premier League.”
Abdul Rahman Mohammed, former UAE captain, who headed the Showtime team visiting the Kingdom, honored Captain Mohammed Al-Khellewi, a former player of the Saudi national team who participated in two World Cups in 1994 and 1998.
Meanwhile, as the EPL season approaches, the best players on the planet prepare for the start of another thrilling season of show, which is being brought exclusively live by Showtime.
In the countdown to another historic footballing season Showtime took to the road on a tour of the GCC to celebrate and acknowledge the talents of Arab football players who possess some of the qualities that make the EPL stand out.
