JEDDAH: Mansour Al-Balawi, former Al-Ittihad club president and currently honorary member of the club, announced he is available for nomination as president of the Jeddah-based club.
Al-Balawi made the announcement because of the impending departure of current president Jamal Abu Omara, whose term ends in the middle of next month.
Omara has intimated he was not interested in renewing his term at the helm of the club, leaving the door open for Al-Balawi and others with plans to run for the Ittihad club presidency.
Arab News sources say a general meeting will be held to choose a new president to lead the club for the next four years to ensure stability, after a host of problems saddled the club of late.
Meantime, Ittihad has completed the formalities in the transfer of professional Moroccan player Hisham Busharwan to the club.
The player signed two-year contract with the club yesterday. He then traveled to Abha for training camp with the rest of the team on the request of Ittihad Argentine coach Gabriel Calderón.
Busharwan passed the medical examination and expressed his happiness in joining the Ittihad team saying that it is a very important step in his professional football life.
As for the Egyptian star, Emad Miteb, Ittihad club management has sent the visa and air ticket for the player and he is expected to arrive tomorrow.
