RIYADH: SABB Amanah EasyBuy joined ANB-SAMA as the only teams to win three Team of the Week victories by clinching back-to-back honors during the 12th session in the Interbank Tenpin Bowling League 2008 Conference at the Riyadh InterContinental Hotel Bowling Center here.
On a night when not a single team reached the 300 points mark, Amanah EasyBuy stood out in the team race for the second straight week with a 290-80 points victory over PNB Unified on total pinfalls of 3,621-3,509.
Another SABB team, Takaful, prospered on the night although SABB’s third team in the competition, Visa/MasterCard, continued to gamely took on its role as the league’s favorite whipping team.
Takaful blasted Saudi Hollandi Capital-SHC 230-50 on total pinfalls of 3,572-3,427 to be a notch above EasyBuy at fifth place in the team standings. For Visa/MasterCard the fun and enjoyment of the game is what really matters despite taking another zero on total pinfalls of 3,072 against the bye team.
SAIB ended its slump by beating BSF 240-110 (3,669-3,549) and Bank Albilad defeated ANB-SAMA 180-50 (3,610-3,392) in the other matches in the five-man team league event sponsored by the participating banks in cooperation with their respective team captains.
Edwin Nunez of Bank Albilad ruled the individual Bowler of the Week race, carding the high series of 825 on lines of 223, 192, 153, 153 and 104 handicap.
EasyBuy lost just the first game in getting the number of Usman Navarro’s Unified team and had the luxury of fielding seven players, led by Haffer Al-Kathiri who drilled the top score of 780 points. Ramong Sadang played good backup to Al-Kathiri with 756 followed by Jerry Austrai with 745. The other scorers were Francis Guron 672, Ruel Barayoga 375, Eric Millanar 157 and skipper Jun Jabonero 136.
As if telling everyone they’re back in the competition, SAIB players won against no less than league leader BSF. Alfredo Villarosa led the reenergized SAIB team, shooting 812 points to go with the 733 by skipper Dong Calub, 715 by Fred Cadavero, 707 by Rey Dela, 533 by Boy Rogel and 169 by Mike Benito.
In addition to Nunez the others who contributed to Albilad’s victory were Arnel Bernabe 761, Ronald Cruz 688, Roland Garcia 648, Fahad Al-Heza 346 and Roy Rosario 342.
