RIYADH: The Dirab Ladies Group held its second Texas Scramble format competition of the new season. As usual, the Texas Scramble for March 2009 was well attended with the team of Vivienne Sanderson, May Biswas, Madele Burger and Theresa Wade winning first place.

Sanderson’s squad won by countback over the quartet of Japanese Mitsuyo Saito, Jette Banke Jorgensen, Rita Dadzis and Eveline Marko after the sides were tied on 77 after 18 holes on a lovely Tuesday morning at Dirab Golf Club.

The title was decided on the last three holes after the back nine and back six scores still produced no result in a hotly contested battle between the top two finishers.

The third place went to a team captained by Flore Bouzanne on 78. Francoise Gergeres, Monika Schiffer and Vicki Smith were the other members of the team.

Burger and Smith grabbed the awards for longest drive and closest to the pin.

Dirab Ladies Group captain Wade thanked the tournament donors during the prize giving ceremony: Eric Huyer from Al Khozama Hotel for the two raffle prize tickets that went to Dadzis (dinner for two at the barbeque restaurant) and Burger (Friday brunch for two), and Arkan East International Ltd. for an Orient watch won by Jorgensen. Wade also thanked the Dirab ladies who brought prizes back from their travels, and these prizes were donated and won by the following: Mami Tsukuda offered two prizes that went to Gunilla Stigsby and Smith, Inge Gueltling, Marko and Helle Klingenberg brought a prize from Thailand which was won by Cristina Alabart and Darlene Kindrachuk donated a Royal Troon clip and the lucky winner was Aelis Sarieddine.

Dirab Golf Club sponsored the lunch and some prizes in the Texas Scramble event that was last won by Susan Mature’s team last November.
