JEDDAH: Bandar Galeib trounced the field to rule the two-day 1st round of Toyota Saudi Star Autocross 2009 at Jeddah raceway whose results were announced yesterday. In all 35 drivers took part in the high-speed action.
When the dust settled, it was Bandar Galeib in his car that led the podium winners clocking the best time of 01:09:179 in the Camry challenge stage on the second day. “I struggled to win, but I loved every minute of it and will do it again,” said Abdul Hadi of his well-deserved victory.
Fadi Hamadh, widely expected to win, piloted his car around the track in a second best time of 01:09:679
In third place was Ead Al Najar who finished in 01:10:332
In the last round of Toyota Camry challenge on the second day, the qualified drivers had two trials. Outsmarting his rivals, Bandar Galeib clinched the championship.
It was a thrilling and interesting round in which Fadi Hamadh and Ead Al-Najar emerged 1st and 2nd runner-ups respectively. The race went on as intended. This was the 1st round of Toyota Saudi Star championship 2009, organized by rally veteran Abdullah Bakhashab, and held over the weekend.
Abdul Latif Jameel Co. Ltd. (Toyota) is the main sponsor of the championship.
