JEDDAH: Al-Areesh resumed its campaign the way it ended — in the limelight — as it clinched a Team of the Week and Bowler of the Week double during the 16th session of the Thursday Bowling League 4th Season at the Sultana Mall’s Bowling City here.

The league’s runaway leader, Al-Areesh flirted with the perfect score of 40 points to lead the point-getters on 39 points. Curiously, it was 11th week perfect 40 scorer Parachutte that denied Areesh its own milestone by winning the first game and relegating Areesh to second place.

Parachutte was two points adrift in second place with 37 points, while D’ Barkads who had briefly took the lead from Areesh in the five-man team league event were a distant third on 29.

Pacific Storm, the other team to score the maximum possible total of 40, pooled 26 points in the fourth position followed by Cannon Balls 23.5 Boleros 21, Hataw-IV 17 and Al-Vencav 15.5 points.

Archie Santos bowled hot all evening to shoot the high series of 704 on lines of 210, 225 and 245 at the vanguard of the Areesh charge that got the better of Parachutte in a two-way battle for honors.

Gerry Mandas was likewise in sync to back Santos up with 624, while Hero Garcia and league organizer Igna Salgado added 592 and 565. From Andy Yumena was two-game contribution of 212-214 and from Eddie Tuico 171.

After winning the first game Parachutte never tasted victory again in the remaining two games and was second as well in the overall team output. Ruel Santos at 640 and James Galvan at 637 were Parachutte’s main men, while Jun Estefano added 545 to go with the 213-195 by Bonnie Garcia, 204-196 by Rudy Valenzuela and 192-158 by Dennis Alvarado.

D’ Barkads banked on the quartet of Ladio Gonzales 641, Mark Hernandez 582, Nap Patayan 577 and Gerry Tano 529.
