RIYADH: Jun Bantug displayed his mettle to roll his first perfect 300 game during the opening day of the SABB-One HSBC Friday Bowling League 7th Conference at the Universal Bowling Center (UBC).
Lefty Bantug went on to claim the week’s Best Bowler award.
Sharing bowling spotlight with Bantug were the D’Avatar which emerged Best Team of the Week award.
The league is solely sponsored by SABB-One HSBC represented by Information Chief Arslan Hussain, Robin D. Jones, executive director and COO and Khalid Shamsan, senior manager IT Planning & Finance.
Filipino Bowling Group of Riyadh (FBGR) organized the league in cooperation with UBC.
Bantug, a bowler-golfer who works at Banque Saudi Fransi, lifted D’Big Blast to victory over SABB-One HSBC, 17-11 with a towering four-game series of 901 that included a 300 in his card.
Bantug rolled 12 straight solid strikes in the first game. Also at center stage for D’Big Blast was the fastrising Mario Rivera who posted 854 and Ben Torrefiel with 754 points.
Comebacking southpaw Jess Vidal and Noli Ritual contributed 485 and 467 in three games, while team mentor Vice Vicencio shared 380 in two games.
For SAB-One HSBC, at the forefront was Doy del Moral with 830 points, followed by Francis Guron with 775 points and Luis Bonguit with 604 points. Jaffer Al-Katheri submitted 519. Ahmed Al-Qarqoush scored 508 points while Jun Jabonero chipped in with 329 series in two games.
Avatar’s squad mentored by FBGR chairman Jerray Austria blasted Pinoy Henyo Bowlers of Gigi Enriquez 22-5 to clinch the Best Team of the Week award.
Ammar Yamin and Austria fired separate series of 887 and 878 to lead Avatar. Arnold Jesena, Jove Marano and Chito Llagas posted separate series of 751, 750 and 720.
Boy Mirando, Willy Nogoy and Cas Encila top-scored at Pinoy Henyo by tallying separate series of 788, 733 and 688 points. Allan dela Rosa, Enriquez and Fhel Ramos scored 468, 380 and 313.
Defending champion Tecsult International blanked Lane Marauders in straight four games 20-0 through the combined efforts of Jojo Paciano (851), Nap Torres (818), Mike Ecalnir (799) and Fem Baracoso (772). Joe Ligon delighted too by downing 573 series in three games.
Alex Pagsanjan and Jojo Miraflor led Lane Marauders by posting 716 and 702.Mike Miguel and Alvin Doctur sealed 652 and 640 while Nitz Gayo hit 518 points.
Bandar’s Bowlers captained by Bandar Al-Marshad beat ABV Rockers 18-10 thanks to Ruben Rialon who made 891. Bandar came in next to Rialon having the best score at 777, while Butch Espinosa had 673. Leo Mabunga, Atoi Ramos and Benny Mondoy shot separate series of 373, 359 and 353, while Rodel Marangca, Jobert Pomado and Edwin Nunez added 192, 179 and 175.
Brooklyn Strikers 1 edged Over Hit 2 18-16 and at the helm for Brooklyn was the duo of Ric Tugonon (866) and Ronald Bautista (866). Gayner Elias and Emil Rances sizzled to 764 and 754 while Rocky Manipon contributed 731 points.
Debuting Striking Eagles dumped Fathi Bowlers 15-9 behind the devastating forms of Wilson Bacala (772) and Edgar Buenaventura (750). Rey Taba, Wilson Bacala Jr., Froilan Laus, Archie Oliva and Rodel Gamboa carded 555, 406, 365 and 321, while Jun Alberto had 151.
