RIYADH: Willcors (Purok 14) duplicated their opening day victory by crushing PB Solar Arabia 86-56 in the Manggagawang Kapit Bisig (MKB) 14th Season Inter-Purok Basketball Tournament Class A & B categories at the Hatco Company staff accommodation basketball court in Al-Naseem area here.

PB Solar Arabia took the early initiative on the way to a 16-8 lead at the end of the first quarter thanks to the tandem of Willard Bohol and Eric Agunda as well as Henry Macarandang, Don-Don Reyes and Nick Salvador.

The trio of unstoppable Boy Mariano, defense specialists Teng Clar and RC Caballero played fast break game to give the the momentum to Willcors which hit the turn ahead by seven at 33-26.

Willcors coach Rey Perez went to the trapping defense to start the third quarter resulting in turnovers for PB Solar and Willcors closing the period ahead by 22 points at 58-36.

PB Solar’s Macarandang and Bong Calubaquib tried in vain to put their team back in the game as Willcors won pulling away.

Earlier, MKB led by its president Robert Barretto held their general assembly and recognition to the 21 members of the group who are celebrating their birthdays for the month of January and February.

A small gathering took place where the members had lots of fun. In his closing remarks Barretto announced that the next general assembly is scheduled for March 26.

Fourteen teams entered the tournament. In Class A (5’10” below open height with reinforcement) are: Purok 1 Al Marai Triangles, Purok 6 Leehan, Purok 7 Tatak Pinoy Sportswear, Purok 8 Tiger Paws, Purok 11 Hatco Selections and Purok 12 Grandians LDS. Class B (5’10” below without reinforcement) comprised Purok 2 PB Solar, Purok 3 Al Katkoot, Purok 5 Abana, Purok 8 United Motors “Dodge Challenger”, Purok 9 “D” Icon, Purok 11 Hatco Tech., Purok 13 Al Yusr and Purok 14 Willcors.

Al Yusr Installment Company represented by Michel Ghattas and Ronilo Nafrada is the sponsor of this tournament. The league enjoys the support of Sunrise International School owner Mohammad Al Sharari, Hatco Company through Delfin Magote, Jr. & Mon Grimaldo, Almarai through Emerson Mitra and Arab News.
