The Gulf Research Center, the organizers of the JEF, has collaborated with Spot Event Management and gave Spot the opportunity to hire the young people. The presence and quality of the ushers is one of the few things that have been well managed at this year's JEF. The young girls wear black abayas and white headscarves and are friendly and professional, giving directions, answering questions and providing headphones for translation.

Shaimaa Fadaag, a 20-year-old student at Effat University, is responsible for all the women ushers at the JEF. She found out about participating in the JEF through Facebook. She filled out an application, was accepted and assigned as the head of the women volunteers at JEF.

"Spot called me because they know me personally as I have participated in many events here," she said. However, this is Fadaag's first time at the JEF.

"We have been hearing about this event for many years and we know it is a major event taking place in Jeddah. As a student majoring in Economics and Business Administration, I needed the experience and am gaining a lot," she said.

The volunteers were chosen for their qualifications and experience. "I collected resumes and we chose 17 qualified girls to take part as volunteers at the JEF," she added. The age of the young women ranges from 20 to 23 and they were chosen from different universities and educational institutions in and around Jeddah. They will each receive a certificate at the end of the event.

Another volunteer, Yasmine Al-Zubeidi, a 22-year-old King Abdulaziz University graduate, was delighted to learn three weeks before the event that she had been chosen to participate. "I'm glad to have the experience of participating in the JEF. I was contacted three weeks ago and we started our training a few days before the opening," she said.
