- TAIF: A Saudi man in his 30s paid the price for a romantic poem he wrote to the woman he loved when his family and the rest of his tribe shunned him, a local daily reported.
His peers said he would never be allowed to attend any tribal function in the future. The wannabe Romeo recited a love poem at a tribal gathering in which he expressed his love to the woman he wanted to marry.
In his poem he named her and her father, who was attending the same function. Romeo’s father, shocked at his son’s audacity, slapped him in the face and walked away.
The father of the girl also slapped him in the face. The tribe issued a decision to isolate Romeo and not to invite him to any tribal gatherings.
