- JEDDAH: Makkah-based Wehda ended Al-Ittihad's seven-game winning streak with a 1-1 draw in their match on Friday during the ninth round of the Saudi Professional League at Prince Abdulah Al-Faisal Stadium here.
Wehda scored the first goal of the match in the second minute when Salman Al-Subyani slammed home a fine shot to the right of the goalkeeper.
Ittihad equalized through Paulo Gorge who fired from long distance in the 42nd minute, the ball traveling past the flailing hands of the goalkeeper into the back of the net.
The result of the match left Ittihad still on top of the team standings on 22 points with Wehda in sixth place on 10 points.
In Najran, Najran defeated Qadisia 2-1. The win put Najran in ninth spot on 9 points equal with Qadisia which is in seventh position on goal difference.
The ninth round continues Saturday with four matches taking place. In Riyadh, the main match of the day pits Al-Ahli against Al-Nasr at Prince Faisal ibn Fahd Stadium. Al-Raid hosts Al- Ittifaq in Buraidah, Al-Fateh entertains Al-Faysaly in Al-Ahsa and Al-Hazem welcomes Al-Taawon in Al-Rass.
