- RIYADH: The Council of Saudi Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CSCCI) will organize an investment conference to discuss the issues and challenges facing constructive economic relations between the key regions of Africa and the Gulf in Riyadh early in December.
"Five heads of state from Africa will attend the First Gulf Africa Investment Conference in which the Saudi delegation will be led by Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal," said CSCCI Secretary-General Fahd Al-Sultan in a press meeting Wednesday evening.
The two-day conference in collaboration with the Gulf Research Center is opening on Dec. 4. It will focus on core subjects including strategic partnership between Gulf States and Africa in agricultural investment, banking and financing sectors, mutual trade, telecommunications, mining, energy, infrastructure and tourism, Al-Sultan said.
The attending heads of state are: President of the Republic of Mozambique Armando E. Guebuza, President of the Republic of Angola Jose Eduardo Dos Santos, President of the Republic of Benin Thomas Yayi Boni, President of the Republic of Zambia Rupiah Bwezani Banda, President of the Republic of Kenya Emilio Mwai Kibaki and President of the Republic of Senegal Abdoulaye Wade.
Other leaders from Africa expected to attend include: Vice-President of Republic of Ghana John Dramani Mahama and Kuwait's Minister Of Commerce and Industry Ahmad Rashed Al-Haroun.
Al-Sultan stressed the significance of close relations between the Gulf Cooperation Council and African countries. He said the Saudi joint investments in African countries reached SR2.15 billion in 31 investments while the foreign investments in recent years there are estimated at $18 billion.
The mutual trade between Gulf Countries and African countries stands at $25 billion, according to latest studies.
