The restaurant is divided into four sections: A small and cozy lounge called the ling ling, two private dining rooms, a high ceiling fine dining area and an outside terrace, which is unique to the Dubai restaurant.

Hakkasan Dubai can seat 152 people with an additional 88 seating capacity in its ambient outside terrace. It was designed to mimic a maze that winds through the corridors of dark wooden walls where one can glimpse other diners. It has dim, soft lights and loud loungey music.

Best describied as a traditional Chinese cuisine prepared with local ingredients in a contemporary style, the menu offers a variety of excellent quality dishes beautifully presented with fresh ingredients bought from the local market.

For starters, we enjoyed an attractive steamed dim sum platter consisting of black pepper roasted duck dumpling, scallop shu mai with orange tobiko, prawns and Chinese chives with crab sauce and prawns. This dish was appealing, had rich flavors and is a great starter.

We also had the Crispy Duck Salad, one of Hakkasan’s best-offered salads; it was made with pomelo, pine nut and shallot and sweet and spicy plum dressing. The combination between the crispy warm duck and the cold lettuce was an interesting touch we enjoyed.

For the main dish, we were offered Braised Wagyu beef brisket in Chinese five spice sauce, dover sole toban with preserved olive with edamame egg fried rice on the side and stir fried lotus root, asparagus and lily bulb in black pepper sauce. The meat was braised to perfection in a deliciously sweet broth and attractively rested in an egg noodle nest.

When the fish arrived, we were really impressed with the presentation; encased in a fish skeleton were pieces of fish and vegetables. Although the presentation was great, it was not my favorite dish as the taste of fish was overwhelming. The waiter said the sauce was prepared with dried fish, olive oil and fish sauce, which explained the strong fish taste.

As for the stir-fried vegetables, they were perfectly cooked and nicely balanced and were a refreshing and appetizing side dish to mix with the edamame egg fried rice.

The dessert was by far the highlight of the meal. We had the lemon tart with roasted sesame meringue and the salted caramel torte and peanut butter parfait. The flavor and the texture blended well together.

The staff at Hakkasan Dubai is very friendly and our waiter was professional and promptly answered all of our questions regarding the dishes.
