- JEEDAH: The Saudi stock market extended gain for the eighth consecutive day on Monday.
- The Tadawul All-Share Index (TASI) closed higher at 7,149.74 points.
All sectors extended gains except Insurance, which pared nominal 12 points. Positive performance was boosted by Cement sector, which was up 2.03 percent to close at 6,208.19. It added considerable 124 points. Banks & Financial Services also accumulated 169 points to close at 16,389.38.
Commenting on the surge in Tadawul turnover, Sami A. Al-Nwaisir, chairman of the board of ALSAMI Holding Group, said: "The big increase in value of traded shares is an indication that investors are shifting from real estate to the stock market."
"It is a direction that has been taken by the fiscal and monetary policy of Saudi Arabia to revive the stock market," he added.
Top ten market cap companies ended the day in green. Riyad Bank and Samba Financial Group performed well relatively and achieved a growth of 1.5 percent.
Saudi Enaya Cooperative Insurance shares began trading today on Tadawul with opening price of SR24.50 and closed at SR36.70, its IPO price was SR10.00, on first day it recorded a gain of 267 percent. It also dominated the trading activity at Saudi Stock Market by contributing SR1.88 billion, which is about 15.3 percent of total market turnover.
The heavy weight stocks continued to escalate the liquidity at Tadawul. Market participants responded positively for the day. More than 524.3 million shares worth SR12.25 billion exchanged hands on the Saudi stock market. The number of executed transactions reached 292.3 thousands as compared to 248.6 thousand transactions of previous day, increase of 17.6 percent.
