Asir Heritage Village at Janadriyah showcases several interesting antique pieces, some as old as 150 years such as an artifact called “Nichan.” Presented by Nasser Al-Nasser, a collector of Asiri heritage, it is on display at the silver ornaments pavilion.

Other items from his personal collection include the first medal awarded to Passports Department in 1924, an Al-Haram Al-Sharif police whistle with the year 1343 engraved on one side and the manufacturer’s name on the other, as well as other valuable silver jewelry.

Through heritage displays such as Alqassa and Alazimi rings Al-Nasser has brought to light age-old tales that these were worn only by girls engaged to be married to signify their commitment.

Asir region is famous for silver handicrafts which is a vital part of its ancient heritage.
