In pursuit of the interest to promote local agricultural products, Middle East’s major retail chain LuLu hypermarket Saudi Arabia is launching a week long Saudi Agro Festival.

The festival — From Our Land — is being held in association with the Department of Organic Agriculture from Feb. 3-9, at its six outlets in Riyadh and the Eastern Province. The inaugural ceremony of the event will be held at the newly opened outlet in Dammam by Abdullah Al-Ahmed, president of Dammam Municipality at 7 p.m. on Feb. 3, and at LuLu hypermarket Murabba at 10 a.m. on Feb. 4.

LuLu is exhibiting a wide range of locally grown fruit and vegetables at the event, with “attractive offers” in the fruit and vegetable section during the promotion. Another major attraction of this campaign is LuLu hypermarket’s initiative to promote and develop kitchen garden among Saudi residents in association with Focus Saudi, a youth organization.

During the course of this campaign, all LuLu outlets in Riyadh, Alkhobar, Dammam and Jubail will be decorated display of local vegetables. A video documentary produced by the Ministry of Agriculture will be shown to customers. This gives a snapshot of the growth and progress achieved by the agricultural sector in the Kingdom.

LuLu has provided an opportunity to the local farms and nurseries to showcase their plants and breeds in the outlets during this campaign.

LuLu’s meat department has made special offers on locally produced camel, lamb, poultry meat, and meats related products, as well as Saudi produced cheese varieties. More than 100 variants of fruits and vegetables, produced and procured from different parts of the Kingdom, will be on display during this week.

LuLu sources a major chunk of vegetables and fruits from Al-Kharj, Qassim, Hail, Jazan, Qatif and Al-Ahsa.
