JEDDAH: Yemenis who have corrected their residential status and got the visitor cards will be covered under the social insurance scheme and will be allowed to work in accordance with the Ajeer system.
The Ministry of Labor has given the green signal to private companies that are in the green category and above in the Nitaqat program to hire Yemenis, local media reported on Friday.
Meanwhile, Col. Mohammed Al-Saad of the Passport Department was quoted by local media as saying that 363,378 Yemenis have corrected their residence status and that they are required to get visitor cards.
“The cards will enable Yemeni nationals to work in accordance with the Ajeer system and will enable them to go to banks and hospitals when necessary,” he said.
Al-Saad called on all Yemeni nationals in the Kingdom to take advantage of the royal decree to correct their status. “The Passport Department has set up centers in every region for correcting the status and has harnessed all human and financial capabilities to help them obtain the visitor cards,” he said.
Rafat Al-Sabbagh, spokesman for King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid, said the center has directly contributed to the return of more than 12,000 Yemenis stranded in various spots to their home country through an integrated air transport plan.
