Labor Party leader Ed Miliband is strongly tipped to be the next prime minister of the United Kingdom.
The leader of the British Labor Party, however, has said publicly that he is a Zionist, in a recent meeting.
The past two leaders of the Labor Party and former prime ministers Tony Blair and Gordon Brown were both instinctive supporters of Israel and were considered dependable allies both in Jerusalem and in the enclaves of Golders Green and Hendon long before they made their move to Downing Street.
It is worth recalling what a former Labor Party member, George Galloway, said, after winning a seat from his newly formed party, Respect: “Long live Palestine!”
He was banished from the Labor Party for spearheading the British people’s opposition to Bush/Blair-led illegal invasion of Iraq. Once he was on an aid mission to Gaza to help the desperate Palestinians but on landing in Egypt, the former President Hosni Mubarak sent him back by refusing him a visa.
It is absolutely sad that some of the Arabs still cannot identify their true friends from their enemies. What more one wants from Galloway to prove that he is a true friend of the Palestinians and Arabs in general? — S.H. Moulana, Riyadh
