Fuchs needed an extra set of super tiebreak to dispose of NCB after the regular sets ended in a 2-2 (24-24) draw in their HMX category match.
In another match, RSTP won without dropping a set blanking JCC 4-0 to lead all teams in the HMX category with a 2-0 win-loss card, while in the LMX category, ABTC relied on their higher scores (25-20) to win their 2-2 tied match against Flexpack Tornado during the third week of hostilities in the 4th ALBAIK Team Tennis Tournament at the Al Bilad Hotel courts.
Fuchs HMX team had their backs against the wall after National Commercial Bank buried them in the first two sets as Sandy Dalit-Kim Sung lost 4-8 to Loi Escabusa-Jun Miguel and Boonsit Terepol was stopped on his tracks at 4-8 by Allan Beltran in the singles game to give NCB a 2-0 lead. A resurgent Fuchs led by team captain Jovy Abella with Renz Lacsina broke the ice as they won 8-4 against Cocoy Clapano-Roland Santos then Eloy Torres-Min Hwan Byun followed with an identical winning margin at the expense of Romy Payong-Ely Mallari to tie the match at 2-2 and the points at 24-24. As per tournament rules a super tiebreak of 12 points had to be played which Fuchs won 12-6 to claim its first victory in two starts.
Red Sea Tennis Players (RSTP) continued its winning streak in the HMX category, this time conquering JCC in straight sets. First set saw Vooch Maniri-Fred Masangkay win via tiebreak 8-7 against George Bornales-Aiman Randa followed by the 8-5 conquest by Abudi Khoja of Farsi Mohammad in the second set. The third set was an 8-3 win by Jun Ouano-Carmelo Nery versus Maan Janoudi-Jeck Olaguer and finally in the fourth set Randy Martin-Juvy Tagudin registered the same scores in beating Rudy Menor-Tungko Usman for the 4-0 victory.
Ace Breakers Tennis Club (ABTC) LMX team also figured in a tied 2-2 match ending but had a higher points score against team Flexpack Tornado 25-20 to gain its second victory in as many outings. First set was won by the Tornadoes as Jojo Alipante-Egay Nique beat Ali Sakay-Amen Dipatuan at 8-5. ABTC’s Roel Manarang-Ramil Ramos countered with an 8-1 victory over Ronnie Alvarez-Ruben Dunque in the second set. Flexpack with Jun Inotantes-Macky Hernandez controlled the third set at 8-4 against Gilbert Bruno-Saipoddin Dianalan. With ABTC badly needing to win the fourth set Ogie and team captain Egay Go went all out to coast to an 8-3 victory against Jojo Lontac-Pete Arrozal and tie the match at 2-2 and take the win via points 25-20.
Organized by the Association of Tennis Clubs, Jeddah (ASTEC), this team tennis tournament is in partnership with Albaik Food Systems Co. as the major sponsors under the aegis of its PR Manager Bassam Al Seyofi with Marketing Coordinator Mahmoud Al Jaber.
