A room makeover infuses fresh energy into people’s lives. It could serve as a source of inspiration for the young, prove to be the perfect gift for the family, or offer a reason to live for the ailing.
Heart-warming stories such as these from across the six GCC states came up for selection at the second season of the ‘Home Center Room Makeover’ contest this year.
From more than 3,500 entries, the jury panel picked 20 winners for the room makeovers — after a long and difficult review process.
Seven winners are from the UAE, two each from Bahrain and Oman, and three each from Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
The lucky winners in the Kingdom are nationals Rawan Khalaf from Riyadh and Fatimah Mohammad from Dammam, and Asian expatriate Mohammed Rafiq Pilloor from Jubail.
Aarti Jagtiani, general manager, Home Center, said: “Like last year, this has been a very difficult judging process with a multitude of entries coming in from a very large audience. Not only is it a great challenge and learning for the brand, it is also a very fulfilling experience that goes beyond creating appealing homes. It allows us to touch the lives of people in the countries we operate and experience the impact our brand can have on their lives.”
Each room makeover worth SR 10,000 (or equivalent local currency) is executed in a single day by the Home Center teams of stylists.
The experts base their recommendations on the tastes and personalities of the winners, their requirements and reasons for the makeover, new trends in the market and optimum utilization of space.
Homes are redone with the latest range of Home Center furniture and household accessories to bring alive a new trend with maximum utility for everyday living.
The result is a distinct visual impact created by matching colors, lighting, palettes and textures to reflect the personality of the winners and their needs.
The contest engaged a wide audience that competed for the room of their dreams.
