A seasoned diplomat

Prince Saud Al-Faisal — the longest-serving foreign minister in the world — is undoubtedly a diplomat of the highest repute. Having served under various kings of Saudi Arabia, he is one of the most seasoned diplomats.
Readers are grateful to Arab News for devoting a special supplement highlighting the role and achievements of Prince Saud Al-Faisal.
I have been fortunate enough to listen to many of his speeches, especially in English, which were masterpieces. Unlike some foreign ministers of other countries, he never committed any mistake in his speeches or in his impromptu interviews to the press. He was practically admired by all other diplomats for his wisdom, knowledge and experience. While describing a diplomat, they say that a diplomat is a person who can tell you to go to hell in such a way that you actually look forward to the trip.
But Prince Saud Al-Faisal was universally respected for his frankness and he never annoyed anyone with harsh words unless it was really necessary. I wish the future Saudi diplomats would make use of their time to learn a lot from him in the field of international diplomacy. — S.H. Moulana, Riyadh
