I read with interest the article “Pawns in a greater game” (May 24) by Abdulrahman Al-Rashed. The writer has raised an important question. It is true that the so-called Islamic State (IS) has never harmed Iranian interests. This IS strategy thus gives rise to the suspicion that Iran might be behind this terrorist organization.
When we connect the dots, it becomes evident that since the rise of the IS, Iran’s position in the turmoil-ridden Arab countries has strengthened. I would like to raise one more issue. It is not only just Iran but Israel also appears to be immune from the IS attacks. There is something fishy about the IS. I appreciate the writer for coming up with such a sound analysis of the current geopolitical situation. I urge him to write more on this issue to further educate his readers. — Rasheed Khan, Jeddah
