Another form of terrorism

This is with reference to the article “Racism is back in US” (June 20). I think that the article in question was a bit lopsided. Not all the Americans are racists. It seems that the wrongdoings of a handful of people gets more media attention. It is the case with the Muslim world as well, where a few miscreants steal the limelight and that too for all the wrong reasons.
Had Americans been racist, we would not have lived the day to see an African American becoming a president.
Instead of raising racist slogans that would further galvanize people into thinking along those lines, there is a great need to study the root causes of these violent incidents. In my opinion, it is the liberal gun law and unrestrained freedom of (hate) speech that is causing all the problems in the United States.
Some “major” American media outlets are also responsible for inciting hatred among people by their biased reporting and sensationalizing reports. The same media outlet is famous for its anti-Islam and anti-Muslim rhetoric so there is really no need to mention its name. In the US, such incidents don’t fall in the category of “terrorism.” They are loosely described as “hate killing.”
The logic behind this categorization escapes logic. It seems that the faith of the perpetrator of such crimes serves as the basic criteria for its categorization. A similar action by a Muslim instantly falls in the category of terrorism and the criminal is described as a terrorist with alleged links to some terrorist groups based in the Middle East or Pakistan.
No matter how the US government or the media describe the Charleston tragedy, it is nothing but terrorism. Period.
