Car enthusiasts wash their cars to keep them looking pristine, but also to help their cars retain their showroom finish for maximum value at resale time. And the majority of other motorists can relate to that “value” factor — it’s a budget issue.
According to auto trade experts, cars in excellent mechanical condition and appearance can be valued much higher than those that do not look so good. The late American famous actor Steve McQueen of “The great Escape,” “The Magnificent Seven” and so many other box-office movies was reported to have been an extremely passionate person in keeping his fleet of cars immaculately clean. In this respect I would not hesitate to compliment the Filipino community for following in the footsteps of the great Steve McQueen. While the others are stretching out on the bed lazily on weekends we can see our Filipino expatriates involved in deep cleaning of their cars, something in addition to their daily routine cleaning.
A good example from anyone should be followed without any hesitation. Why don’t we try to be a Steve McQueen like our Filipino brothers? — S.H. Moulana, Riyadh
