JEDDAH: The Saudi-led coalition launched a series of airstrikes on Houthi gatherings in the southwestern city of Taez on Sunday, according to Al Arabiya News Channel.

The coalition also targeted Houthi-held camps in the Yemeni capital and resumed strikes on Republican Guard bases in the northern province of Saada.

Also on Sunday, the coalition hit a Houthi convoy between Omran province north of Sanaa and Saada.

Al-Arabiya television said warplanes had attacked a Scud missile base in Faj Attan, south west of Sanaa.

One witness reported at least four air raids and saw thick smoke rising from the area.

British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond earlier condemned Saturday’s Scud missile attack on Saudi Arabia by Houthis, which was intercepted by Saudi air defense forces.

Hammond said: “This attack must not be allowed to derail the political process.”

Saudi Arabia said on Saturday it had intercepted a Scud missile fired by Yemeni army units toward the Saudi city of Khamees Mushait.
