Undersecretaries GCC interior ministries will meet in Riyadh on Sunday to weigh actions to be taken against Hezbollah members and supporters in the six member countries.

“The meeting will look into measures to be taken against Hezbollah followers in the GCC countries, regarding their residency as well as financial and trade dealings,” said Abdullatif Al-Zayani, secretary-general of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

He said the officials would study suitable mechanisms to implement a decision taken by the GCC against the Lebanese group, in coordination with other relevant agencies such as commerce ministries and central banks.

A similar previous meeting focused on matters “to develop mechanisms to monitor movements, financial transactions and business operations of Hezbollah,” said Bahraini deputy interior minister Khaled al-Absi.

The GCC leaders decided on June 10 to impose sanctions on Hezbollah, targeting residency permits and its financial and business activities in reprisal for the group’s armed intervention in Syria.
