Moulinex was put to the test by Marogong before scoring a 99-90 victory in a strong Inter-Commercial Open Non Rated Division A game during the fourth week of the 1st Friendi Basketball Tournament presented by WPBL at the Ahmed Khaki Sports Complex (Orca) court here.
It was the second straight win for Moulinex which led by as many as 12 points but had to overcome an Alturas-inspired last ditch rally to stay perfect after two games in the tournament sponsored by Friendi Mobile.
Jolas Dangao was a bundle of energy at the helm of Moulinex as he grabbed Best Player of the game honors with 20 points. Diego Domalogdog enjoyed a good shooting night and with tall Basa joining him in tossing 3-point bombs all night long Moulinex took a 91-79 lead with 4:57 to play on a basket in the lane by Diaz.
Alturas cut the lead to 94-90 with little over a minute left, Marogong stole the ball but Jay Liam missed and Basa grabbed the defensive rebound that led to a split free throw by Dangao 95-90 effectively sealing the fate of Marogong, which failed to sustain its momentum after a turnover following a Jack Basilio rebound basket, 91-84, time down to two minutes and 51 seconds.
Moulinex is coached by John Felias with Ma rco Baduria and Butch Mendez as assistant coaches.
