Just one month after the successful first tournament back at the NAI Juffali Compound basketball court in Bawadi District Filsama (Filipino Salesmen and Merchandisers Association) launches its 7th Conference in partnership with Orbit Showtime Network today at the same venue.
The opening day program starts 6 p.m. and the assembly time at 4 p.m., according to Filsama Basketball League Commissioner Abdulmoen “Teng” Laguialam.
Consul General Uriel Norman Garibay of the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah is expected to grace the opening ceremony as guest of honor and speaker along with the other VIP guests including Suliman Abdul Reda, OSN regional sales manager Western Region. FBL consultant-adviser Mohamed Bayoumi, a friend of the Filipino community and recipient of the prestigious Presidential Banaag Award, will also attend.
Sponsored by OSN, the league will have four divisions: Open Rated, Non Rated, Inter-Company Bona fide and Inter-Color, a fun tournament for Filsama card-bearing members and friends.
Friendster and Shadow Lounge renew their rivalry in the Open Rated Division which also attracte Wasalak, Cotabato and Boy Corsega’s team.
Entered in the Non Rated Division are E.A. Juffali & Bros, Friendster, Uni Décor, Makkah Boys, Bang Bang Gensan All Stars, Maya Int’l Co., Old Airport Islamic Team, Arabian Homes, James DL Cruz Team, Airnet, Compass Ocean Logistics, and Saudi Oger.
Bracketed in Inter-Company Bona Fide, a newly formed division, are: ALJ Toyota Camry, E.A. Juffali & Bros, Fuddruckers-Naghi, Danube Market, Delta Water, Saco World, and Makati Foods-Al Kherejie.
For its second Inter-Color Filsama managed to put together five teams namely Red Team, Green Team, Blue Team, White Team and Black Team.
Helping Laguialam run the tournament, which is expected to again pack the crowds in at Juffali Compound in what has become an FBL hallmark, are Vice Commissioner Germogenes Raras, Technical Director Manny Manalo, Secretary General Ogie Nucum, Treasurer Rene Valle, and table officials Jun Espi Jun Montebon, consultants Gary Santos, who is also the group’s vice president, and Ruben Villarosa.
FBL would like to express its thanks to Fouad Mustaq, and Roger Dones, manager and camp manager respectively of National Automotive Industry Compound, for helping facilitate the use of their facility.
Games are to be played Thursdays and Fridays.
