IDB-Blue scored a thrilling 2-wicket win over IDB-Red in the final to bag the Islamic Development Bank Cricket Tournament trophy organized by the Bank’s Social and Cultural Forum at their Green Lawn ground recently.
Blue’s captain Muzamil Riyaz led from the front and was the architect for his team’s victory with his all-round performance. Muzamil played a valuable innings of 25 with the bat and later took 3 crucial wickets.
The men in blue batted first and put up a decent score of 117 from the stipulated 12 overs. The other batsmen who contributed to the total were, Hamzah Hashim (20), Ameen (10) and Naufil (10). Maseehullah and Jawad got 2 wickets for the bowling side.
In reply, IDB-Red fell short of their rival’s total and managed 115 runs. It was a one-man-show as Maseehullah fought a lone battle and scored a valiant unbeaten knock of 66. However, all his colleagues failed to provide him with enough support and did not get double figures.
Misbah was the other bowler who impressed for IDB-Blue as he took 2 wickets.
Dr. Ahmet Tiktik, vice-president IDB Group and Abdallah Baghdadi, head of IT, were the chief guests. Both promised that the management would continue their support, promoting sporting activities in the future in Saudi Arabia.
