The Saudi Cultural Attaché Office at the embassy in Washington will mark the graduation of more than 8,000 foreign-scholarship students by holding a ceremony and jobs exhibition on May 24.
Most of the students who studied in the United States on Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' Foreign Scholarship Program hold PhDs, medical fellowship certificates and master’s and bachelor's degrees in medicine, engineering, management and economics, said cultural attaché Muhammad Alissa.
Assistant Cultural Attaché for Cultural and Social Affairs Moudhi bint Abdullah Alkhalaf said the ceremony would include diverse events given the increase in the number of graduates. It will be associated with a three-day career fair where representatives of Saudi Aramco, universities, government departments, banks and airline companies will be present.
“So far 30 parties confirmed participation,” said Alkhalaf, who called on graduates to register on the attaché website for the jobs exhibition, saying the ceremony will also include workshops on starting small businesses, innovation and job-interview skills.
The committee organizing the fair will receive lists of available jobs from employers attending the event and will follow up on the recruitment later. “We expect 85 percent of the graduates to show up,” she said. “And we have a back-up plan in case the number increases,” she added.
Minister of Higher Education Khaled Al-Anqari and Saudi ambassador to Washington Adel Al-Jubair will attend the ceremony. The students and their parents will be accommodated in several hotels and provided transport.
